Business rules
Three days in, I realized I never wrote down the rules. The 80-Day Startup opened by defining their 80 days. I skipped that part, so here it is.
The clock
My 80 days are calendar days, weekends included. Day 0 was August 2 and Day 80 lands on October 21. Some days I have personal obligations. On those days the update will be small. A small day is not a missed day. The commitment is to show up and build daily. If I miss a day, the project does not fail. I write what happened and keep going.
The finish line
Day 80 succeeds if the recommender works and is live for anyone to use. I am building the recommender before the interface on purpose. The engine is the product. A pretty site with bad recommendations is the thing I am trying not to build.
The money
Running total so far: $0. The TMDb API is free. Cloudflare Pages hosts the landing page for free. The newsletter is a plain text file and a mailto link because every RSS-to-email service wanted $7 to $9 a month. I will report the total whenever it changes.
